Washington see off Hebburn

HEBBURN Town lost 2-0 last night at Washington in a Northern League Division Two clash.

Washington took the lead on 22 minutes when Dean Fox cleverly lobbed the advancing Hebburn goalkeeper Andy Hunter, and when the ball came back off the bar, Nicky Martin prodded home.

Hebburn's best chance of getting back into the game came on 40 minutes when Willie Crew netted, but the goal was controversially ruled out with the assistant referee flagging offside against Michael Armstrong, who didn't appear to be interfering in play.

The second half saw Hebburn have a couple of good chances to equalise, but they were undone when John Hanson scored to secure the win.
