Shields aim to make Penrith pay for bad run
SOUTH SHIELDS host Penrith at Filtrona Park tomorrow, still looking for their first Northern League points of 2010.
They've played six Division One fixtures since the turn of the year, and have lost them all, to slump from the top three down to eighth.
Manager Gary Steadman had hoped their League Cup victory over Bedlington Terriers would provide the springboard for them to push on again in the league, but that hasn't proved the case.
Subsequent defeats at the hands of defending champions Newcastle Benfield and high-flying Ashington quelled that optimism.
But with Penrith the visitors to Filtrona tomorrow, Steadman is hoping that Shields will more than match their mid-table rivals and gain those first points of the year.
Tony Coe returned from suspension in midweek against Ashington, and is expected to keep his place tomorrow, while David Graham could be pushing for a start after coming off the bench to grab two late goals.
Influential captain Lee Paul Scroggins is still banned, however.
