Hebburn Town boss calls for title-winning mentality ahead of new Northern League campaign

Hebburn Town manager Kevin Bolam has called on his players to adopt a “title-winning mentality” as they prepare to finalise their preparations for the new Northern League Division One season.

Graeme Armstrong, Robbie Spence, Carl Taylor and Cedwyn Scott all found the net for the Hornets as they claimed a 4-1 home win against Division Two neighbours Jarrow on Saturday.

The win over Dave Bell’s side means that Hebburn will remain unbeaten in the pre-season fixtures if they can avoid defeat in Tuesday’s night meeting with National League North club Blyth Spartans.

However, Bolam admitted that he was “slightly unhappy” with his side for easing off during the second-half of their win over Jarrow and called for higher standards as the new seasons looms ever closer.

He told The Echo: “The challenge that the lads were given was about showing the same intensity off the ball against a side slightly below us.
