No old pals act - Catts

LEE Cattermole returns to former club Wigan on Saturday for the first time since his £6m transfer last summer, and says there will be no sentiment when it comes to trying to plunder all three points from the DW Stadium.

But he says he wishes the Latics well in the long-term, and hopes they stay in the top flight.

Cattermole was injured last season for the trip to Wigan in November – which the Black Cats lost 1-0 after a typically uninspired away-day performance – and is determined the same will not happen again this weekend.

But he says he retains affection for a club which was good for his career.

"I've not been back there yet but Wigan was a great club for me," he said in an interview with the club website's TV channel.

"They were a great stepping stone inbetween Middlesbrough and here.

"Everyone at the club was brilliant, from the chairman downwards.

"Obviously, the manager and the staff I worked under at Wigan came here.

"But I loved my time there, and I have a lot to respect them for."
