Tyrell grabs debut hat-trick as Jarrow hit eight

JARROW put their recent woes behind them with an eight-goal blitz against Houghton Town at Perth Green.

In their previous games, Dave Bell's side lost to Darlington Cleveland Bridge and Annfield Plain.

And their manager had called on his players to start turning their possession and dominance in to victories.

And they certainly did that in style against a Houghton team who had found a little bit of form themselves coming in to the game.

New signing Paul Tyrell was quickly off the mark, netting after just two minutes, and Liam Clark immediately doubled the lead a minute later.

It was one-way traffic for the rest of the half, but it was not until the 40th minute that they got their third goal, when Tyrell got his second from close range.

The second half was more of the same. Chris Lunn got himself on the scoresheet on 47 with a clinical finish, and 10 minutes later Tyrell completed a superb debut by curling home a free-kick for his hat-trick.

Substitute Sean Combe got Jarrow's sixth goal firing low past a shell-shocked Houghton keeper.

Peter Kane then drove home a 25-yard shot, before Lunn got his second to complete the rout.

Assistant manager Duncan Donnelly said: "To be fair, although we have been somewhat inconsistent lately, we have created a host of chances in all of our games, and have threatened to do something on the level of this performance all season.

"What we are looking for now is consistency on a week to week basis."
