SOUTH Shields boss Jon King has made a triple swoop as he continues to revamp his squad.

The Mariners manager has brought back striker Tony Burnell to the club, while goalkeeper Nathan Wright and Ivan Stoyanov have also joined.

Burnell had left Filtrona Park earlier this season to join Newcastle Benfield in a move that disappointed King, but his return will add more attacking options to the Shields squad.

Stoyanov, who joins from Dunston UTS, is a left-sided midfielder who has represented Bulgaria at every international level up to under-19.

King said: “We’ve got a good strong squad now, and two players for every position.”

Meanwhile, fireplace manufacturer Be Modern has showed its support to the local community by becoming a sponsor at South Shields.

A five-metre banner has been positioned pitch side promoting the company’s Fireplace Factory Outlet, in Bede Industrial Estate.

Shields chairman Gary Crutwell said: “I’m delighted to welcome Be Modern as a sponsor to our club. As a local company with over 250 employees, I’m hoping many will come along on a Saturday to watch our team and become loyal supporters.”

Mark Hunter, head of marketing for Be Modern, added: “The banner promotes our fireplace factory outlet that provides great offers to the local community looking for a fireplace or fire.

“We are proud to sponsor our local football team, and we wish them success for the remainder of the season.”

Shields are without a game this weekend due to the FA Vase fixtures.
