Richie has no regrets over Benjamin move

ON TARGET ... Alex Benjamin.

ON TARGET ... Alex Benjamin.

JARROW Roofing boss has no regrets about letting striker Alex Benjamin leave after the striker’s four-goal debut blast for Hebburn Town in midweek.

McLoughlin made the decision to let the frontman leave the club after admitting it hadn’t worked out with the player.

He said: “I’m over the moon for Benji. He’s a bit loud in the changing rooms and a bit loud on the pitch, but that’s the way to do it with four goals.”

McLoughlin had hoped Benjamin’s goals would fire his side away from the bottom of the Northern League Division One table, but his side must fight against relegation without him now.

They start that battle at home to defending champions Spennymoor tomorrow, with new goalkeeper Josh Carmichael set to start and Liam Robertson returning to the squad after illness.
