Life's just champion for Boldon

BOLDON CA's superb season in the Durham Coast League was rounded off with them claiming the title.

The South Tynesiders saw off Ryhope to secure their first championship in 56 years.

Now they have to wait to see if they are accepted for promotion to the Durham Senior League.

Should Boldon go up, it will be at the expense of fellow South Tynesiders Marsden.

Despite the Jack Clark Park side beating Norton by seven-wickets, Marsden remain at the foot of the Senior League table, and face an anxious wait to learn their fate.

South Shields's disappointing Premier League campaign continued with yet another defeat.

The Wood Terrace side went down to Newcastle – losing by 126 runs.

A second-wicket partnership of 224 proved too much for Shields to handle, and having been set a target of 305, Matty Muchall's men made just 179 in reply.
