Newcastle to see double after Blackburn’s twin swoop

NEWCASTLE United could be seeing double at Blackburn tomorrow night after Rovers completed a twin capture.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean today completed the free transfer of left back Marcus Olsson from Halmstads.

The defender, twin of Rovers’ Martin Olsson, can play up front and on the left wing has put pen to paper of a two-and-a-half-year deal at the Ewood Park.

The 23-year-old is a full Sweden international like his brother and has been at Halmstads since 2008 after coming through the academy at Hogaborgs.

The brothers were handed a trial at Blackburn in 2005, with Martin securing a permanent move to Ewood Park, while Marcus returned to Sweden.

Olsson is Blackburn’s second signing of the January transfer window after Anthony Modeste joined on loan from Bordeaux.
