Campos hit the headlines in late 2020 with talk of the Paraguayan attracting interest from some of Europe’s top clubs – as well as criticising Steve Bruce’s tactics and use of Almiron.
But in an interview with Paraguayan outlet GEN, translated by journalist Roberto Rojas, Almiron makes it clear he is enjoying life in the Premier League – and on Tyneside.

"I feel more comfortable playing as a playmaker but I don't have any issues playing in other positions, be it on the left or on the right. The footballer has to adapt to what the manager wants or asks for."
"The Premier League is a difficult league with great players and at the club, we're fighting to always do our best. I think being near the relegation zone is something temporary & we are going to move forward.”
On his future long-term, he added: "My goal is to stay in Europe. If God allows me, it'll be in the Premier League which is very competitive, I know that I have to work hard.

On his relationship with Bruce, which has been questioned by some sections of the fanbase, Almiron said: "I'm always speaking with the manager. Perhaps the formation is a bit more attacking or defensive, it depends who we play against. Now, we're playing 4-3-3 and we have more possession of the ball.
"Steve Bruce is a manager that talks a lot to the players. There were a lot of games that Newcastle United was able to come back from thanks to the support of the fans.
"I prefer that fans are able to go to the stadium, it's very nice to see them. Still, the pressure is placed by the player themselves.
