Injury worry for Newcastle as reserves beat Wigan
INJURY SCARE ... for Newcastle United over Sammy Ameobi.
SAMMY Ameobi suffered an injury in Newcastle United’s 3-1 reserve win over Wigan Athletic this afternoon.
Ameobi hobbled off with a knee problem in the second half after coming off worse in a 50-50 challenge in the Premier Reserve League fixture.
The game, held behind-closed-doors at the club’s Benton training ground, saw trialist Jason Prior find the net in front of watching first-team manager Alan Pardew.
Bognor Regis striker Prior has been training with United this month.
South Tynesider Remie Streete and substitute Brad Inman were also on target for Willie Donachie’s side.
Haris Vuckic and Dan Gosling were also given 90-minute run-outs to top up their fitness.
