Ben Arfa's aiming to celebrate like Shearer!

HATEM Ben Arfa can't wait to find the net at St James's Park – so he can do an Alan Shearer!

The winger, known in his native France for the stunning goals he banged in for Olympique Marseille, has seen the club's all-time leading scorer playing for Newcastle United on TV.

And Ben Arfa, on a season-long loan, is dreaming of the reaction to his first goal in black and white.

Ben Arfa: 'I'd love to be United's new Robert'

"When I knew I'd signed, I imagined what it would be like to celebrate like Shearer," the 23-year-old told the Gazette.

"I have an image of my head of when Shearer played for Newcastle, and how the fans reacted to the goals that he scored for the club. That's what stood out for me when I heard I was going to sign."

Ben Arfa is hoping to make his Newcastle debut against Blackpool a week tomorrow, his protracted move to United having finally been completed last weekend.

"I am very, very happy to be here now," added the France international.

"It took a long time to complete the move, and now I am here and going into training with my new team-mates, I feel really happy with life.

"I know how big this club is. It has a big history, and fantastic supporters. The history, and how good the supporters are, is a very well known fact in France.

"It is a very good challenge for me. It's a club that has a certain stature in the English game, and in Europe.

"The sporting challenge also appealed greatly to me."
