LEE CLARK ... the former Newcastle United and Sunderland midfielder has parted company with Huddersfiled Town.

FORMER Newcastle United and Sunderland midfielder Lee Clark today parted company with League One side Huddersfield Town.

The 39-year-old Geordie, who had been manager at the Galpharm Stadium for three years, is regarded as one of the Football League’s most promising young bosses.

A former coach at his old club Newcastle, and at Norwich City under another ex-Magpies favourite, Glenn Roeder, he has been linked with current vacancies at Leeds United and Wolves.

In his first season at Huddersfield he helped them to a ninth-placed finish in League One. They also only lost two home league games all season.

In his second season, Clark helped the Terriers to a play-off spot, where they lost to Millwall.

Last term, he guided Town to a third-placed finish, earning a place in the play-offs after a club-record 25-game unbeaten run in the league.

They reached the final after beating Bournemouth 4–2 on penalties, but lost 3–0 to Peterborough in the Old Trafford final.

Clark continued breaking records at the beginning of this season, taking their unbeaten run to 43 games, the second-longest unbeaten league run in English football history.

Their form has dipped recently, however, and after three games without a win, Huddersfield are fourth in the table, four points behind Sheffield United - who beat them at home last night.

That prompted Huddersfield to show the door to Clark and his entire coaching staff, with Academy manager Mark Lillis taking temporary charge until a successor if appointed.

Terriers chairman Dean Hoyle said: “This was a very difficult decision for us, one not to be taken lightly or in response to one result. Concerns have been raised over recent weeks.

“Lee and his coaching staff have put their all into the job over the past three seasons and he has made a huge contribution to the club.

“However, with 16 matches to go we still have an opportunity to achieve promotion, and we have made this change with this in mind.”

Fools. Are they expecting Capello to go to Huddersfield like? Lee Clark is way too good a manager for them anyway. They'll probably drop like a rock in the league now. There will be clubs all over the country that will be rubbing their hands together wanting to get him to manager their club and good luck to him. He'll be NUFC manager one day and he'll be class. :D
