College earn six-try bonus point

SOUTH Tyneside College enjoyed their first win of the season, and picked up the bonus point with a six-try victory over Hartlepool Athletic.

Hartlepool took an early lead with a penalty inside the first five minutes.

However, College hit back with two well-worked tries – the first from Kirkham and the second by O'Neil.

A further try by Bruce, with Kennedy adding the conversion, saw the College lead 17-3 at half-time.

The second half saw Hartlepool coming at the College at every chance, and this led them to adding three penalties and a well-struck drop goal from their scrum-half in the first 15 minutes of the second half.

College brought on fresh legs, which proved a crucial move as they took hold of the game in the last 20 minutes.

Fine tries by captain Paul Patterson, Hall and Dan, with Kennedy kicking the conversion, gave College a 34-15 success.
