Boldon boss seeks reaction to 'abysmal' defeat

BOLDON boss Doug Key has demanded an instant improvement from his side after describing their defeat against Ashbrooke Belford House as 'abysmal'.

Key and fellow manager Darren Palmer saw their side slump to a 5-0 hammering in their last game.

And they travel to Hartlepool tomorrow in the Wearside League knowing that a huge lift is needed if they are to come away with all three points.

Key said: "We were absolutely abysmal last Saturday, and none of the players can complain if they are left out.

"That said, we are getting a bit thin on the ground. Jason Jones is on holiday, Tony Renwick has a hamstring strain, and Michael Meeks is a doubt with a foot injury.

"There were a few harsh words said after the Belford game.

"It's not Sunday football, and we need to defend better, so clean sheets are the order of the day."
