There were almost endless permutations and possibilities when the competition was still in the group stage – but things are much simpler now after they progressed by topping their group.
Gareth Southgate’s side now face old rivals Germany in their fixture at Wembley on Tuesday, June 24 at 5pm – the seventh of the eight last-16 ties to be played.

But if England win, they travel to Rome for a Saturday, July 3 quarter-final at 8pm against the winners of the Sweden v Ukraine last-16 tie.
In the semi-finals either England or Germany would play back at Wembley at 8pm on Wednesday, July 7 when the opposition will be either the Czech Republic or Denmark.
The favourites to win the tournament are France. England can only meet them, or Belgium, Italy, Spain, Switzerland or Croatia (again) if they reach the final, which is at Wembley, 8pm on Sunday, July 11.

The odds on England winning the tournament outright have now come down to around 6/1 at most bookies, although that might be connected to how much hopeful fans have been placing on their team.
France remain favourites at 4/1, but they only won one of their three Group E games, drawing the other two. Italy and England are joint second favourites at 5/1, followed by Germany at 6/1, Belgium 13/2 and Spain Spain 7/1.
Belgium’s odds have tumbled since they won their last-16 match against reigning champions Portugal. Rank outsiders are Switzerland at 100/1.
The last 16 fixtures are as follows:
