Almost two thirds of readers in our poll are unhappy with the general election result
Nationally Boris Johnson’s Conservatives had a convincing win. In South Tyneside both Labour MPs were re-elected, but with significantly reduced shares of the vote.
So we asked in out Facebook poll: “Are you happy with the outcome of the general election?” The result was that 38% of around 2,600 people said yes, 62% no.

Hide AdPeter Watt said: “Get Brexit done now, put it to bed. As Boris said, people only loaned him the vote. Have a feeling the areas that vote blue will go red again next election.”
David Nye thinks: “Corbyn was unelectable. His own party don’t like him he is only in the position he is as the unions voted him in as he is far left. Labour are finished until they change their voting system, as the unions will replace him with another far left. RIP Labour.”
Matthew Hunt said: “I'm not happy, not unhappy, just accepting of the fact. To be honest I'm glad of a clear result for once.”
Heather Ditchburn Curry said: “I’m happy labour didn’t get in.”

Hide AdPeter Bennets has the complete opposite opinion, saying: “I am very happy to have our very hard-working, committed, and dedicated member of Parliament Emma returned as our representative in Westminster.”
An unhappy William Waugh Dermot Mcdonnell said: “This wasn't a general election, it was a referendum and a witchhunt by the non-dom millionaire gutter press!”
