TV chef wins battle with Jay-Z
CELEBRITY chef Terry Miller has won a four-year legal battle against one of the giants of the music world.
The reality TV star was challenged over the name of his Rockafella restaurant in Newcastle by rapper Jay-Z's Rock-A-Fella Records.
Jay-Z, who founded the label in 1996, said people would think the enterprises were connected.
But Mr Miller, of Darras Hall in Ponteland, won a ruling giving him a trademark for the restaurant and food branding name Rockafella that gives him exclusive rights to use in UK eateries.
The 51-year-old launched the restaurant in Amen Corner, Newcastle, with 250,000 winnings from the cooking show, but closed the business almost two years ago due to the recession.
He said: "I'm happy with the legal win because it's a moral win as much as anything."
