Time runs out for £1.5m Lotto ticket holder
TIME has now run out for South Tyneside's mystery millionaire to collect their fortune.
A 1.5m jackpot-winning National Lottery ticket from March 27 was bought in the borough – but the deadline for collecting the bumper payout was 5.30pm yesterday.
The jackpot was won when balls 6, 11, 15, 32, 38 and 42 were drawn.
Now the 1,524,417 prize has been handed over to the National Lottery's Good Causes Fund, and will be split between arts, charities, heritage, sports, and health, education and environment projects – though not specifically in South Tyneside.
A National Lottery spokesman said: "It's a real shame, but there is still one winner – the nation."
