Sir Bobby Robson's Rolls Royce up for sale

A LUXURY classic car that was Sir Bobby Robson's "pride and joy" is up for sale.

Car dealer Paul Cummings is selling the football legend's Rolls Royce Silver Seraph at his showroom for an undisclosed sum.

Mr Cummings was asked by Sir Bobby's widow Lady Elsie to sell the up-market vehicle, which the former England and Newcastle United boss bought from the Peterlee dealer two and a half years ago.

Sir Bobby and Mr Cummings struck up a friendship after meeting through Sir Peter Vardy, head of the Wearside-based Reg Vardy car dealership.

Mr Cummings, 50, of Seaham, said there had been a lot of interest in the car, which is stored at his showroom on the North West Industrial Estate in Peterlee.

Mr Cummings, who went to Sir Bobby's memorial service at Durham Cathedral, said: "Sir Bobby always wanted a Rolls Royce, but never allowed himself to have one.

"e asked me to find it for him. It was his pride and joy."
