Pal Jade is so proud of Joe

BIG pal Jade Thirlwall was left emotional by Joe McElderry's triumphant homecoming.

The 17-year-old South Tyneside College student from Laygate first met Joe through singing.

Jade herself got to the final 20 girls at bootcamp in The X Factor back in 2008.

After watching Joe wow the crowd, she said: "It was even better than I thought it would be.

"The highlight, of course, was Joe, and the most entertaining was, of course, Jedward.

"It was really emotional, to think that just a few months ago we were sitting in his flat singing along to backing tracks, and now he's playing to thousands of people.

"The Climb always makes me cry because it makes me think of when he won, but Don't Stop Believin' was excellent.

"I'm so proud of him, it couldn't have happened to a nicer lad."
