Lettings boss gives town a second kiss
AN upwardly mobile South Tyneside lettings company has officially opened its second borough office as part of an ambitious expansion programme.
KIS Lettings, a property lettings and management agent, is increasing its workforce after setting up a new office in Fowler Street, South Shields.
The Mayor of South Tyneside, Coun Jim Sewell, was on hand to mark the official opening of the office, which will now become the company’s main branch in South Shields.
KIS will continue to operate its headquarters from the Westoe Road office it has occupied since 2006.
Ajay Jagota, director at KIS Lettings, said: “It’s always been my intention to grow the business to cover the whole of the North East.
“This move is certainly helping to facilitate that.
“The new branch location places us alongside our competitors and is a strategic move to increase footfall into our offices.
“Meanwhile, I’ll be looking to recruit a further six new members of staff to work in the head office, where we’ll manage online and phone enquiries from new and existing clients.”
Mr Jagota launched KIS as South Tyneside Lettings and Management in 2006 after managing his own portfolio of properties and working in property development for more than 15 years.
At the time, he found a gap in the market for a competitively-priced lettings management agency, which could provide a high-quality service for a fraction of the usual cost.
The company manages lettings for about 300 landlords, ranging from those that have invested in a second property to private landlords with an existing portfolio of properties.
Coun Sewell said: “We’re delighted that Mr Jagota has chosen to open a second KIS Lettings office in South Shields and it was a pleasure to be involved in marking the official opening.
“The council is committed to supporting local businesses and recognises the contribution they make to the vitality of the local economy.
“It is great to see a local business go from strength to strength, and we look forward to seeing KIS enjoy continuing success here in South Tyneside.”
