Learning event will be thrilling

CRIME fiction fans can discover the secrets of the perfect murder mystery later this month.

People are being invited to Murder In The Library at Bede's World in Jarrow where a group of seven thriller writers will be sharing the secrets of writing the perfect murder story.

The event has been organised as part of the North East Festival of Learning, which is being held to launch the Learning Revolution in the region.

The Learning Revolution is aimed at encouraging people to get involved in learning opportunities available through libraries and other organisations.

Mark Freeman, chairman of the North East Society of Chief Librarians, said: "This murder mystery event is one of many which are taking place across the North East as part of the Learning Revolution.

"It will include workshops, panel discussions and the chance for people to meet the authors.

"It's a chance to learn from the experts what goes into writing the perfect murder mystery and creating a fictional super sleuth.

"We're delighted to be welcoming the authors of some of the most exciting contemporary crime novels to this event, which I'm sure will be a must for crime fiction fans across the region."

The authors taking part in the event are Adam Creed, Helen Fitzgerald, Michael Gregorio, Andrew Martin, R N Morris, Stav Sherez and Nicola Upson.

The event, which is sponsored by the Reading Agency and publishers Faber and Faber, will take place on Saturday between 10am and 4pm.

Tickets cost 12 and must be booked in advance. Lunch will be provided.

For more information or to buy tickets, call in at South Shields Central Library in Prince Georg Square or ring 427 1818.
