Firefighters tackle chip shop blaze
Eight firefighters have tackled a blaze at a chip shop in Jarrow.
Two engines from South Shields were called to a fire at a chip shop on Stanhope Road at around 4.19pm
Crews used one hose reel, four breathing apparatus, a thermal image camera and a positive pressure ventilator, to put out the blaze in the shop on the ground floor of the two-storey property.
The building was 25% damaged by the fire and 75% damaged by the smoke.
