TV smashed after drunken row with girlfriend
A MAN who smashed his bedroom television during a drunken row with his girlfriend has been hit in the pocket.
Lee Seff flew into a rage after a night out boozing and punched the £200 plasma screen set a number of times, cracking the screen.
South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court heard the 37-year-old started to argue with his partner – who had also been drinking – about her going out without him.
Seff, of Rodin Avenue, South Shields, pleaded guilty to criminal damage at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday and was fined £235 and ordered to pay £85 costs.
Stan Sudworth, prosecuting, said: “His partner says there are problems with him drinking excessively.
“He came home after going out drinking with friends until 3.30am. She had been out and they argued about it.
“She went to bed, but the argument continued. He punched the television three times, smashing the screen.”
Rachel Gedney, defending, said: “It is what it is and he is very remorseful.
“When he returned home, there was an argument and during it, he punched the television.
“They live together and they have joint bank accounts so he has disadvantaged himself.
“He is thoroughly ashamed and embarrassed to be at court.”
