Man in court over smashed windows

A MAN was due in court today after windows were smashed during an attack on a home in South Tyneside.

Darren Robson, 29, of Eastbourne Parade, Hebburn, has been charged with criminal damage, and was due to appear before South Tyneside magistrates.

Police were called to a block of flats in Anderson Street, on the outskirts of the Woodbine Estate, South Shields, at 8pm on Wednesday.

The Gazette reported yesterday how a 37-year-old man was slashed with a blade after leaving his house to confront two people who had been throwing stones at the windows of his ground-floor flat – cracking two of the panes.

His wrist was cut by one of the men, and he was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Police were called to the street and arrested two men, aged 22 and 29.

The 22-year-old arrested on suspicion of wounding has been bailed by police while they investigate further.

Anyone with information, or who witnessed the attack, is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
