Man due in court over street robbery
A MAN was due to appear in court today charged with robbery in a South Tyneside street.
Thomas Murray, 21, was arrested in Coronation Street, South Shields, at 4.50am on Saturday and is accused of punching another man before stealing cash from him.
Murray, of Coverdale Avenue, Usworth, Washington, was due to appear at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Police were called by the 25-year-old victim who said he had been attacked and robbed.
He said the man demanded he went to a cashpoint and hand over money.
He was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital for treatment to a suspected broken jaw and nose.
