Four arrested after man’s jaw broken in attack

FOUR men were arrested after a man was attacked at a house in South Tyneside.

An ambulance was called to Inverness Road, Jarrow, after a call to say a 23-year-old man had been assaulted.

He was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital for treatment to a suspected broken jaw and fractured eye socket.

He was kept in overnight and transferred to Sunderland Royal Hospital for further treatment, where he remains in a comfortable condition.

The ambulance service called the police who arrested four men in their early 20s on suspicion of assault.

Three of them have since been released with no further action, and a 22-year-old has been released on bail while police continue their investigations.

Anyone with information on the attack, which happened at 8.15pm on Thursday, is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
