Family firm has a head for figures

A NEW family firm with a head for figures is aiming to crunch numbers to boost South Tyneside’s business community.
RobertChristopher Accountants has been operating from The Quadrus Centre in Boldon, for just over six months.
But Bob Smith, 59, and son Chris Smith, 29, bring a wealth of accountancy skills to the table.
Mr Smith Snr has more than 30 years’ experience as an accountant, with much of his career spent in the small business sector.
His son, Chris, meanwhile, who is the main point of contact for the firm, has worked for Northern Rock and several other companies.
RobertChristopher Accountants has already forged links with companies in The Quadrus Centre and is keen to expand its contacts with the local small business sector.
Chris Smith said: “One of our main aims is to foster a close relationship with our clients, that works more like a partnership and adds value to the business.
“Our doors are always open to small business owners keen to discuss their accounting requirements in more details.”
He added: “Much of our business so far has come through units at Quadrus, and by word-of-mouth recommendation.
“Things are going well so far and we aim to consolidate the business and perhaps recruit staff as we expand.”
The father-and-son accountancy duo would also like to hear from anyone in the process of starting up their own small business, who may need some initial guidance.
Services offered by RobertChristopher Accountants include book-keeping and accounting, payroll and tax compliance, credit control and cashflow forecasting.
RobertChristopher Accountants received advice from both Tedco and Business Link before its launch last summer.
