Drivers warned of Sunday diversions
MOTORISTS are being warned to expect diversions as resurfacing work is carried out on one of South Tyneside’s main roads on Sunday.
The work will take place on the John Reid Road/Boldon Lane roundabout in South Shields between 8am and 6pm, when there will be no access through this roundabout.
Drivers heading eastbound along John Reid Road will still be able to access the crematorium.
The westbound carriageway will also remain open to provide access to South Tyneside Hospital, Community Fire Station and Temple Park Centre only from King George Road.
The work is being carried out by Northumbrian Roads on behalf of South Tyneside Council, which has scheduled the works to minimise disruption.
Diversions will be signposted, and the council apologises for any inconvenience the works may cause.
For further information about the works, call Judith Amess in Highways Maintenance on (0191) 424 2563.
