A YOUNG South Tyneside entrepreneur is shaping up for a new business career – in the open air.
Reece Chow, 23, has just launched Inside Out, a personal training and boot camp venture.
Combining personal training, nutrition advice and boot camps, the keep-fit programmes are already attracting dozens of paying customers to alfresco workout sessions at South Shields riverside.
After working for others, Mr Chow decided it was time to try self-employment, investing his own cash in fitness equipment and customised company T-shirts and hoodies.
Mr Chow, of South Shields, said: “I’ve only been operating Inside Out since last month, but I’m getting about 20 regulars at my sessions, on a grassed area opposite the former Garlands call centre, off River Drive.
“I used to work as a personal trainer for another company, but I decided to strike out on my own. So far, the business is working out, and I aim to increase the number of sessions I run and maybe get a permanent base.”
Offering three different keep-fit packages, the outdoor sessions are attracting people of all ages.
“People are coming from all over South Shields, the youngest being 17 and the oldest people in their mid-50s.
“I would like to attract people from outside South Tyneside and hold sessions over a wider area. Rather than being stuck inside a gym or a community centre, people seem to enjoy getting fit in the open air,” Mr Chow added.
A presence on social networking site Facebook and word-of-mouth recommendation has helped attract more paying customers, with 10-session training packages costing between £30 and £60.
Inside Out sessions, which incorporate interval training, squats, dips and even boxing exercises, are held most weekdays, between 6.30pm and 7.15pm.
