THE WAY IT WAS ... Howard Jones in this '80s heyday.

THE WAY IT WAS ... Howard Jones in this '80s heyday.

EIGHTIES pop pioneer Howard Jones is visiting the North East next week - and lucky Gazette readers could see him for free!

The Gazette is giving lucky readers the chance to see him live in concert at the O2 Academy in Newcastle on April 17.

We’ve teamed up with Noble PR to offer one lucky reader and a guest the chance to meet and greet the synth-pop star after Tuesday night’s show.

And they’ll also win a copy of his CD Box Set of digitally re-mastered editions of the first two studio albums Human’s Lib and Dream Into Action, PLUS a copy of his live DVD – Human’s Lib & Dream Into Action – Live At IndigO2.

We’ve also got 10 pairs of tickets for the Newcastle gig for runners-up.

To be in with a chance of winning, answer this question: What was the name of Howard Jones’s first UK hit?

Fill in the competition entry form in tonight’s Gazette and send it to: Howard Jones competition, Shields Gazette, Chapter Row, South Shields, Tyne and Wear. NE33 1BL.

Or you can enter the competition by e-mailing your answer to gazette.comps@northeast-press.co.uk

Entries must include a daytime contact number. The closing date is Monday, April 16.
