McFly and The Wanted top Mouth of the Tyne bill
HEADLINERS ... McFly, above, and The Wanted, inset, will play this year's Mouth of the Tyne festival.
TWO of Britain’s biggest pop bands will headline this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
They follow in the footsteps of previous sell-out shows at the festival – which covers both South and North Tyneside – from Beverley Knight, The Script, James Morrison and Scouting For Girls.
McFly will take to the stage at Tynemouth Priory, on Friday, July 13, while The Wanted will perform on Saturday, July 14.
The multi award-winning McFly return to the North East after their Keep Calm and Play Louder UK tour and will play their favourite hits from more than 15 Top 10 singles and five Top 20 albums.
The Wanted – currently on a promotional tour of the US – are one of Britain’s biggest pop bands, with four Top Five singles including two No1s.
Mouth of the Tyne Festival is supported this year by TyneMet College, in North Tyneside, and Port of Tyne.
Port of Tyne chief executive Andrew Moffat said: “Sponsoring the Mouth of the Tyne Festival, one of the region’s biggest events, is just one of the ways that the Port of Tyne can help local businesses and communities in our area.
“The festival has a national profile and attracts visitors from far afield, all of which supports the local economy.”
Coun Glynis Barrie, from North Tyneside Council, said: “I’m delighted that once again we can announce a programme of well-known and popular acts for this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
“The festival grows year on year, attracting more visitors and boosting business for our area.
“I hope people will again come along and enjoy this year’s concerts and, of course, the fantastic free programme of street entertainment.”
