TALENTED Eve Simpson has been nominated for a Pride of South Tyneside Award.

The 12-year-old, from Beacon Glade in Marsden, South Shields, sings, plays guitar and piano and even writes her own music.

Eve, a pupil at King’s School in Tynemouth, is one of the first nominees in this year’s 10th anniversary awards.

She was nominated by Jessica Thompson, of Sutton Way, South Shields, for the Young Performer of the Year category.

Jessica is a friend of Eve’s older sister, Holly, 15.

She said: “Eve is one of the most talented people I know.

“She is an amazing singer and extremely hard working, and gives her all in everything she does.

“Not only does she sing but she plays piano, guitar, writes her own music and acts.

“Eve also gives a lot of her own time to perform at charity and community events.

“She also has time to write her own music, and has achieved her Grade 3 in singing and Grade 5 in piano.”

She added: “Eve is a lovely, caring young person who uses her talents to brighten people’s lives.”

Eve, who lives with her parents, Ian and Sharon, also attends Scooch star David Ducasse’s Performers Stage School.

Mrs Simpson, 40, who teaches cake decorating, said: “We’re all really proud to see her nominated again.

“We’re always very proud of what she does.”

Eve is set to perform at Time Machine, a variety show organised in aid of the Mayor’s Charity at Chuter Ede on February 24.

Mrs Simpson added: “She does a lot of things like that , and especially with the school, has performed a lot within the community.

“It’s strange, but she actually prefers to get up in front of a crowd of hundreds of people and sing than to just sing in front of me.

“It just comes naturally to her – she doesn’t even have to think about it.

“She just enjoys performing so much, and if a charity is involved, it’s a bonus for her.

“She’s always been in school plays and loved being on the stage, so it’s amazing to see her nominated for this award.”
