Album review: Ramones - Loco Live

RAMONES ... Loco Live (Captain Oi!).

RAMONES ... Loco Live (Captain Oi!).

THIS is a long-overdue CD release for what was, at the time (1991), only the second live album by New York’s finest.

Recorded in Barcelona over two nights, it’s effectively a live greatest hits, featuring material from across their 15-year career.

The first three Ramones albums should be in any record collection, and nearly half the set is drawn from them – gems like Blitzkrieg Bop, Pinhead and Rockaway Beach.

Later releases threw up some classics too – The KKK Took My Baby Away, I Wanna Be Sedated and Psycho Therapy – and they’re all here.

Bassist CJ fits in seamlessly on his first recording with the band, and the only downside is the increasingly mumbled vocals.

This release brings together the UK and US versions, which had four different tracks, and is worth it if your Ramones-mania extends past the hits. 7/10. GW
