Hall was drafted in by boss Chris Hughton after a scan showed Steven Taylor faced a two-month spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
He could make his second appearance for the Magpies at Derby tomorrow night – and the prospect of a permanent move to the promotion-chasing club is at the back of his mind.

"I'm a QPR player, so it would be wrong for me to look at anything else. I'll just take each game as it comes.
"Helping Newcastle to promotion would be amazing. They've been doing well without me, but for me to come in and add a bit would be amazing."
Hall would love another crack at top-flight football after tasting the Premier League with Wigan and Crystal Palace.
"Every footballer, if they give up their dream of playing in the Premiership, might as well retire," said Hall. "That's every footballer's dream, and I'm no different.
"I played in the Premiership, and this is probably my biggest achievement, signing for Newcastle until the end of the season. I feel like an 18 year old again!
"It does seem weird when you look at the Premiership and see some of the names there, and Newcastle in the Championship.
"But they're where they should be, and that's at the top."
