It's time for Tesco to deliver

COUNCILLOR John Hodgson's comments in Monday's Gazette regarding the proposed new supermarket in Hebburn ('New Asda store bid is welcomed') are 100 per cent correct.

Tesco might be the council's preferred developer, but it needs to extract its finger and deliver on hypothetical promises.

Instead, it procrastinates, and its bid should be considered flawed, unless they become realists in the game and give the people of Hebburn a regeneration project that is, in the words of Coun Hodgson, more than "hollow promises".

Coun George Waddle,

Independent,

Fellgate & Hedworth,

South Tyneside Council.
